Sheepishly I admit, this is the first time ever I have paid attention and cared about the election. I am not proud of that, just saying, it is not my thing. This time I cared, this time it mattered and when it was all said and done I was left shocked and dismayed. And now that the dust has settled, it is time to brush ourselves off, do what we can to add more love and compassion into the world, stand up for injustices, and be the peace we wish to see in the world. My initial bout of sadness came with the assumption that there are that many people filled with hate in our country. I have since come to understand/consider/theorize, it is not a 50% population of hate, simply people in so much personal pain, they were willing to tolerate the hate in hopes of trading it in for economic relief or whatever their greatest pain point is. I shot this video on election day prior to checking in on the polls. Evidently, Spirit was trying to speak to me, calm my fears and remind me, everything is okay. And moving forward, I am committing to “seeking first to understand” people’s pain before “seeking to be understood.”
