It was my distinct pleasure to spend 5 days in Mexico at Sanoviv Medical Institute with Collette Larsen, an extremely accomplished woman with a loving and gentle soul. Her story is one of rising from the ruins and adversities in life that easily claim many as victim (admittedly starting out in that role) and moving beyond to one of victor. A single mother of 5 children, two with cystic fibrosis, Collette had mounting medical bills and enormous debt, yet with a faith based, love will conquer all, anything is possible, empowering attitude, she rose above it to be the number one salesperson in her organization. Collette’s measurement for success is 1) Did you love? and 2) Did you learn? Her life story speaks loudly – YES and YES!

Sanoviv is a medical facility incorporating Functional Medicine practices. The staff is committed to treating you as a whole being, focusing on your biochemical individuality and the underlying factors causing your health issues, not just your symptoms. They apply an integration of the best in modern medicine combined with holistic and alternative therapies to find that which works for you.
When you visit Sanoviv for one of their treatment programs, you will undergo a series of diagnostic tests, including many that are not available in the U.S. or Canada. The doctors will then draw on a range of conventional and alternative treatment options to develop a comprehensive program specifically tailored to your individual needs.
In addition to offering medical services to those with health ailments and life-threatening disease, they also offer health assessments and spa treatments to treat the whole being to attain optimal health to live life to the fullest.
I was part of a 5 day detox and education program. Everything you do, eat, wear, and breathe is part of their detox program. Upon arrival you receive organic, toxic free clothing to change into and wear for the duration of your stay. All the food you eat is organic, dairy-free, gluten-free, lovingly prepared, and absolutely delicious. The water has the highest filtration process with the proper minerals added back in. A typical day consists of drinking lemon water with cayenne pepper (good for detoxing), checking your vitals – blood pressure, oxygen levels and weight, then drinking wheat grass, attending an energy medicine class followed by a 30 minute meditation then 30 minutes of light fitness and stretching, before breakfast.
The rest of your day includes whatever spa services or treatments are scheduled specifically for you. In my case, I had a range of services from a fitness assessment, a Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (a read out of body/fat mass, basal metabolic rate, and much more), a dental review, nutrition classes, energy medicine classes, reflexology, stress and relaxation measurement, colonics, a variety of meditation classes, health screening, variety of fitness classes (water fitness, dance, yoga, stretching, rebounder class), Sense facial, Swedish massage, Darkfield Microscopy (an analysis of both live and dried blood samples) and a Fango body wrap. Whenever there was a break in the day, I enjoyed it in the Thalasso pools (salt water is also great for pulling toxins out of your body) and infrared saunas.
