We all know the standard American diet leaves much to be desired and that many diseases, such as diabetes, are growing at the rapid speed of one’s waistline, but what are we to do about it? My next Goddess of the Month is Rachel Yaseen with Organic Kitchen Tucson, and she helps bridge the gap from all the research and studies on the healthiest way to eat to the practical application of it in your life. See what Rachel has to say about following her passion, eating organic whole foods and sustainability…

Short promo video for Goddess of the Month – Rachel Yaseen
Great interview with Goddess Rachel. Love her story and the wisdom that has come out of her life. Love this form of wisdom… Listen to YOUR body. There ARE so many conflicting diets out there. Some may serve for a cycle and then need to be changed out. Think of the radically different cycles of a woman’s life. A woman through the decades; pregnant woman, nursing mother, mother of young children, mother of teens; peri-menopausal woman, menopausal, post… crone… and beyond! So I am all for good diets… and, for listening to your body, and not judging others because you may be vegan and another may be a conscious meateater. I know, sounds like a contradiction of terms. but its not!
Yay! and I DO love food!!
she is indeed a Goddess of the Kitchen & Food! mixed in with a good dose of your wisdom made this one yummy dish, Rachel!
Thanks for this, she reminds me of a woman who did the cooking for a retreat I went to in Hawaii last year. The food was amazing but the chef, well let’s just say I called her the Kitchen Goddess and my running joke was that she was actually running the retreat from her kitchen! Thanks for the reminder!
Sheila, great interview with Goddess Rachel. And that little promo video is so professional! If I was in your area I would join for a cooking class. There is a lot of conflicting information out there and I am not sure I know what to do with it all. I learned some new things listening to this interview, so thank you!
Great promo vid! This is a great interview. I love how she says it’s something outside of herself, like she can’t help but to do what she does. I feel that way a lot too.
There is sooooo much information out there about what’s right or wrong to eat, and it can be all too easy to fall into the trap of following the media’s latest message. (My mother-in-law does this.) I love the listen-to-your-body-approach. The more I do this in my own life, the better I feel.
I really liked this interview. I am also passionate about cooking. I teach others how to cook and create a low-glycemic lifestyle. I am all for listening to your body and being healthy! I would love to take a class from her if it was offered in my area.
Loved this interview. As someone who is passionate about food I so resonate with what Rachel was talking about. It is so true about knowing who or what to trust around eating. I for one love the raw food diet and yet I am not vegan as I also enjoy meat. It is an area I have struggled with as the emphasis is so on one or the other. To see and listen to another foodie talk about eating for the love of it is refreshing. And yes, listen to your intuition around did it feel good to eat a particular food. Also worth thinking what might feel good initially as in great mouth feel might not feel so good later when you feel bloated and uncomfortable.
Wow, thanks everyone, I am feeling the love!
Kathleen, I love your point about the different stages we go through as women and thus our needs are always changing. So profound, so true!
Laura, I agree, I went to a medical spa in Mexico in May and there is something indescribable about having delicious, healthy foods prepared for you several times a day. Gratitude only begins to express the feeling – yummy on so many levels.
Laurie, thank you for the video compliments yet I have computer software to thank for that, not my incredible skills. 😉 I appreciate looking professional though especially when it is easy with good software.
Jessica, I was also moved by that statement that it came from outside herself. I think we are all moving toward that place of creating with divine guidance. It was also funny how that was a section in which she just wanted to talk to me, not do the interview as it made her nervous. The ‘just talking’ parts were my favorite parts of the interview.
Jenny, I agree, the ‘listen to your body’ approach applies to all areas of our life, not just in what we eat, but in what we do for work, for love, and in service to others. Beautiful!
Heather, where do you live? I will certainly pass the info on to Rachel so she can let you know if she comes to your area. Thanks for your views and comments, so happy to see another teacher of the low glycemic lifestyle!
Claire, I love how you do not see the world in black and white and can enjoy the many colors and varieties in being a supporter of the raw food diet and still enjoy meat – whatever makes sense to your individual bodies needs. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and views!
It is so important what you feed yourself. What you feed yourself mentally, emotionally, spiritually
and of course, physically! Really great, informative and thoughtful questions. I love your comment to pay attention to how our body feels after we eat something. Rachel is such wonderful resource and guide, Thank you for sharing!
Nice reminder for me to watch Forks Over Knives! I’ve heard about it and definitely want to watch it. The other thing I liked is “how your body feels after eating” – we are so cut off from our feelings and our own internal guidance system. Beautiful interview – thank you for sharing this wisdom!
Thanks so much for doing this interview. I must say I love the video format – and the promo video was fantastic! I’ve been a vegetarian for 16 years but I still have health problems. I think I will take some of Rachel’s advice to heart and start focusing on more whole foods and a lot less processed foods to see if the combination of eating habits changes my health. Thanks again!
Sheila, kick-ass promotional video! I also enjoyed the interview. The one thing that really stood out for me was less about food and more about how Rachel picked her jobs. Taking on projects that filled her versus depleting her is so wise. I’m dealing with an energy sucker client right now, so the comment hit home.
I was also watching the video eating an ice cream cup. I had to confess, I felt like I was cheating on you (it was a really small cup though) 😉
Pat, I agree, listening to our bodies is so simple and yet so often overlooked or underutilized. Thanks for your thoughtful words.
Tanya, yes, I have been meaning to see the show as well and still have not gotten to it, but it is definitely on my list!
Sammi, I agree, vegetarian does not equate to healthy if the foods consumed in avoiding meats are processed and packaged. Thank you for sharing your story.
Scott, thanks for your encouragement. I cannot take full credit for the kick-ass promo as most of the work is done by my computer software, but I guess I can take credit for the know-how to use kick-ass software! ha 😉 That was one of my most inspirational take-aways as well, only do work your heart is in 100%. And a little bit of ice cream is not all bad. One has to live a little. 😉
Sheila, I love that it’s your mission to find and introduce the world to Goddesses! I so enjoyed what you shared about following one’s heart in business, and keeping one’s self fulfilled… that is the true mark of an authentic being at work…. the MOST attractive way to do business! also thanks for the conversation about following one’s internal guidance around foods rather than becoming paralyzed with the long lists of diet do’s and don’ts. It all comes from within, right?
I love it! “Just simplify!” why on earth do we make things so complex? Great approach. And great conversation.

Love your vdo format. I am passionate about cooking, really enjoy eating and a big fan of organic food. I agree with Rachel about seeing abattoirs will change the way of eating. I eat less meat now 🙂 and I try to grow my own vegies as much as I can. I feel so much better when I cook my own vegies than buy them form supermarket.
sheila,
i LOVE your promo video- how fun! the interview is a great way to give information and help the readers get a more personal feel for your goddess of the month. yes, we have all heard what to eat, and how much to eat, and what makes us fat, blah blah blah- listening to your body may not always be easy, but like rachel suggests, i have found it to be the most effective way to eat.
i look forward to your next video!
Totally get what she is saying and simplify is the way to go for sure. I remember when I changed the way that I ate and I just simplified how easy it was. I took out all the processed and I ate whole foods. My goodness it was amazing the change that happened in the way that I lived. I was different in so many ways…I felt lighter, my moods were better, I was grounded and so much more. My shift is what got me into the coaching world and started out as a holistic health coach. Love my process and love that I coach new coaches to start their businesses now. Life is grand! Thanks for sharing this with us.
xoxo
