By the age of 4 years, all of Carla’s grandparents had passed. She remembers going to nursing homes with her mother and not knowing they were there because they were aging, getting sick and unable to care for themselves, she just thought it was a ‘grandparent hangout’ and if she was cute and entertained them, one of them would surely want to adopt her. Fast forward to her adult life and finding her passion and contribution in the world, Carla teaches yoga to seniors, Parkinson’s patients and others with compromised mobility. Her work has so enriched her that now she feels like she has been adopted by 100 grandparents for their daily unconditional love and gratitude for her.
In this video, Carla shares with us
- how yoga has opened herself up to new depths of love and acceptance
- how memory loss can be dealt with by focus on living in the moment
- how you don’t even need to believe in yoga/movement to experience the benefits
- seeing people for who they are without judgement or story of who they were and what they’ve done, and that
- love is love and it feels good to love others unconditionally whether it is remembered or not
