Goddess of the Month ~ Jennifer Phelps

Jennifer Phelps defies the handyman stereotype by being a feminine power tool wielding goddess who adds a special sense of service to her work. I think what struck me the most about my time with Jennifer was the realization that everyone has a story that led up to their needing a particular service and when we are present to others’ needs, it doesn’t matter what services we offer there are intangible offerings that are just what the person needs at that exact moment.

One wouldn’t automatically assume Ms Fix It Home Solutions to do more than repair, organize and prepare your home for sale or more comfortable living, yet the true service lies in being able to help people detach so they are better able to embrace whatever is next. And isn’t that what we are all called to do? Find what we love to do and be of support and service to others to find their inner peace, comfort and greatest joy?

  • Great interview Sheila. I got a little teary thinking about packing up memories and saying goodbye to one home in order to get ready for what’s next. Very cool that Jennifer is able to tune in all the aspects of this beyond the physical things that need to be done to the homes and really help her clients with their transitions.

  • Nice piece. I went through so much of this process. Hiring a professional organizer. Having friends come help me declutter and detatch prior to a move. Hiring a home stager when I sold my house. Having a loving, compassionate, neutral person was so valuable. I was amazed how attached I had become to some “things!”. Love Ms Fix It!

  • Great interview. I think that many businesses start out with an intention of providing certain service or product and later realize that their service or product provides much more than the thing itself.

  • I am an interior designer and I can tell you…there are a lot of people who spend way too much money without organizing and de-cluttering first. Sometimes all you need is a couple trash bags and willing hands to make a house look 1000 times better! You go girl!
