Many Blessings on Thanksgiving

This is my favorite holiday of the year as it is filled with warm thoughts, delicious food, and good company. I also appreciate that it has the least amount of expectations and obligations, simply a time to come together and enjoy each others’ company. I love the slow pace of the day and the extra time reflecting on all the blessings and gifts in my life. I am particularly grateful for you and your support of the Grateful Goddess community.

Although I spend each morning expressing gratitudes in my journal, today still holds more impact and heart-expansion as I meditate on just how fortunate I am and how much I have to celebrate. On this day, I tend to look a little deeper at the things I am grateful for that aren’t as obvious or as easy to appreciate.

This is the second year of having Thanksgiving without my mom, and so I was blessed with the discovery of a hugging meditation that I found so touching and lovely, I wanted to share it with you.

Hug someone three times, breathing in and out with awareness. The first time, you both think about how, at some time, you don’t know when, you will no longer be here. The second time, you focus on how, at some time, you don’t know when, the other person will no longer be here. The third time, you truly take in that you are both here now, together in this precious moment.

I would like to give special thanks to Lora Sasiela for sharing ‘A Great-fullness Anthology’ with many lovely quotes and practices. You may find her Anthology here.

Many thanks and warm wishes to you on this very special day!
